Brentford School for Girls is set to undergo critical heating system works after securing government funding to replace failing boilers – a project described as essential to keeping the school open.

The funding, confirmed as part of the latest round of the Government’s School Condition Improvement Fund (CIF), will support a boiler and heating distribution replacement.

The project addresses significant infrastructure issues at the school, where ageing heating systems have raised concerns about reliability and the ability to maintain safe, operational conditions for pupils and staff.

Local MP Ruth Cadbury welcomed the funding as part of a wider package supporting three schools across Brentford and the wider Hounslow borough.

The amount of these grants is not being published to protect schools' ability to obtain best value from contractors.

The investment comes from the Government’s £450 million CIF programme for 2026–27, which supports essential maintenance and repair projects in schools across England.

The fund is designed to address pressing building issues before they deteriorate further, forming part of a wider effort to improve school infrastructure nationwide.

Ruth Cadbury said the investment reflects the need to address years of underfunding in school buildings, adding that the improvements will help ensure pupils can learn in “safe and fit” environments.

The announcement builds on broader education spending, including increased day-to-day school funding and investment in additional SEND provision across Hounslow.

Schools Minister Josh MacAlister MP said, “Opportunity for our children starts with a great education, and children can only learn well in buildings that are safe, warm and fit for purpose – not classrooms disrupted by leaking roofs, failing boilers and declining buildings.
