The managing director of Ealing Hospital is set to take on one of the most senior roles in north west London’s health service later this year.

Mark Titcomb, who currently oversees both Ealing and Central Middlesex hospitals as well as the Elective Orthopaedic Centre, has been appointed interim chief executive of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH).

He will replace outgoing chief executive Pippa Nightingale, who is due to step down at the end of July.

The appointment was made by the North West Provider Group, which brings together four acute hospital trusts across the area.

Speaking about his new role, Mark Titcomb said he was “excited to step into this role at such an important time”.

“We have a superb workforce delivering such great care for our patients and communities every day,” he said. “We have the chance to really build on that by working together, and by making the most of group opportunities for closer collaboration and shared learning.”

During his time at the trust, he has led the introduction of the Elective Orthopaedic Centre and the Ealing Community Diagnostic Centre, both aimed at improving access to vital healthcare services for residents across north west London.

He brings extensive experience to the role, having previously held senior operational positions at West Middlesex University Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, as well as other roles within the NHS.

Outgoing chief executive Pippa Nightingale paid tribute to her successor, saying: “Congratulations to Mark as he takes on this important challenge.

“Leading LNWH has been a genuine pleasure, so I will be watching with pride as you all continue with the successes we’ve made together.”

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust provides hospital and community services to around one million people across Harrow, Brent and Ealing, with major sites including Northwick Park, St Mark’s, Ealing and Central Middlesex hospitals.
