Seems terribly young doesn't it - especially for a Young One. No mention of the cause of death or whether it was related to his quad bike accident in 1998.

He lived in Barnes, apparently, so practically a local. Emergency services called about 1pm today and he was pronounced dead at the scene. No suspicious circumstances, say police.

Actually met him in Ealing Broadway in mid-90s at the 65 bus stop by old post-office when I was a postgrad working at TVU. Asked if I could interview him for research I was doing on youth culture so he asked me to be outside Ealing Studios the next day at one. I did turn up, so did he he bought me lunch in the canteen (shepherd's pie) and we had a good old chinwag for 2 hours on becoming a dad, changing currents in satire etc: really charming bloke. They were doing a St Trinian's film I think. Very sad loss. I probably have a magnetic cassette tape of it somewhere.
