I fell off a ladder 2 months ago , on my birthday and gave myself the mother of all strains, visit to A&E x ray....,The advice was to use the joint as normally as possible, no support or crutches, once a fracture had been ruled out. Maybe worth having an X ray if it is still very painful after 5 days. They have observed self employed people who don't take time off after injuries against people who rest after injury and the overall recovery is best in people who use the joint.Physio yes, get some professional advice on exercise. It is getting better but soft tissue injuries can take a long time to heal. I would get professional advice if only to identify the injury properly.
