The staff of life?

Hakkekat's bread supplier has closed its factory.No more long Turkish bread or the lovely round overgrown pretzels with sesame seed.That narrows choice round here a whole lot.Laveli's bread has got better - anyone tried the spelt and rye or apricot and raisin but is jolly pricy. Morrison's is good too. But the Hakkekat bread was a real treat. Such a pity.

The shop that was briefly a bakery next door to Hakikat used to sell some giant pretzel/bagel type breads, so you could try there.

The Bread stir on CHR has wonderful pretzels and bead. A bit further to travel, but hopefully you'll find something closer.What about the new Griffin bakery on Churchfield Road? Can anyone recommend them?

Kim,Despite being called Griffin Bakehouse, it does not appear to be a bakery as such, more a coffee shop with some specialty baked items. No evidence of any bread.

There is a good Lebanese bakers up just beyond the Tesco petrol station on the Uxbridge Road.  They may have it.  The Bulgarian shop next to Dominos also does bread.

Bread is an under rated food - I particularly like Turkish, Lebanese and Syrian breads. There are a couple of shops in West Ealing selling this type of bread - its tasty stuff to eat with various dips.

The new Polish Deli opposite Morrison's also stocks a selection of quite nice bread and I also got two lovely smoked mackerel there at the weekend. Would also recommend the Polish Wheat Beer and it actually tasted nicer than the Bavarian versions that I love.
