Ting Tong Thai

What do we think of the rebranding of 'Thai Nice' to 'Ting Tong Thai' ?I did a double take when I walked past...Anyway, always nice to see places refurbished...

I like the lilt of the name.I've been told Ting Tong means crazy so looking forward to see in what way. Are they open yet?

When I walked past the other day, they said they were opening this Friday (27th).

"  What do we think of the rebranding of 'Thai Nice' to 'Ting Tong Thai' ?  "Instantly thought of the Christmas carol sing song "Ting Tong merrily on Thai" The staff must be prepared for spontaneous out of tune renditions as the season approaches.

I don't think it is a rebranding, but rather a new restaurant entirely.  I seem to remember David Archer saying he had emigrated to the south coast where everyone was much nicer and the rents were cheaper.  So apart from the location, everything is different.  Oh, and I think the name is asking for a Leslie Phillips-type refrain of "Ding Dong".

Just to clarify any confusion over the name - The word "Ting Tong" means "Heaven" in Chinese. For example the British borned Chinese girl who repsented England in Table Tennis with the Commonweath Games in Glasgow also has the same first name "Ting Tong".Hence ting Tong Thai means "Thai Heaven"!

I'm pleased about the refurbishment, celebratory opening and rebranding, but what's the cuisine like?  Anyone tried yet?  Is it as good and vibrant as Thai Nice used to be?

Hi, I've had a couple of takeaways but not been back in since the refurb. The food was every bit as good as Thai Nice, though a couple of our faves no longer on the menu, eg. Larb Kai.As far as refurb v new restaurant, I think the ownership has changed but the kitchen & waiting staff have remained the same, so a bit of both really.
