Hello all. Didn't realise this thread existed as I've not been around much. Yes, you don't need planning permission if it's within permitted development, which means under a certain size and a distance away from the main house. I agree with Mary and Sara......I have no objection to anyone building or extending their homes (hey, but please, let's keep it looking half decent, uh, and not painted bright pink!) What I do object to is using such buildings or additions to house other people and create income from it. And, so does the Council. We have some movement on the gym in Friars Way (which is the back of a house in the next street). It seems the Council have acted on this matter, at last. The tenants seem to have gone although the matter isn't quite finished yet. I would strongly urge you all make formal complaints to the Council and involve your Councillors. The Council took ages to act upon our complaints and those of our neighbours. You just have to squeak very loudly. Don't let it rest. If we had had to take the gym apart ourselves, brick by brick, we would have. Seems we don't. But I don't want to speak too soon.....
