Good news about the refurbishment of the park. Many memories when we were young spending hours playing in the park. Was the horse-shoe pond at the bottom of the slope from the house?, seem to remember running around it when empty. Was it really 60 years ago for me

As I understand it, the Horseshoe Pond was at the far end of the lawn at the bottom of the slope. The remains of the bridge that carried the central path over the bit that linked the two halves of the pond is still there.The refurbishment plans intend to recreate the western half of the pond, outside the Orangery where a rockery has been installed. (But there are too many large significant trees now on the eastern half of the pond to bring that back to life.)
