Are those a row of old cannons opposite the Kings Arms?

Its a random, summer's day question .... but ...A while ago, I was wandering past the Kings Arms at the corner of the park on the Vale - now being converted into a Sainsburys - and was looking at the iron bollards outside the pub.They are slightly irregular in shape - and I thought they might be cannons that were sunk into the ground when the Kings Arms was built.It's pure curiosity, really. But I wondered if anyone knew - or whether I am just imagining it.

Correct.  And in fact most of the old iron bollards are made from decomissioned cannons.  Once you know, you can't help noticing them everywhere.  And this is one of the reasons I love London so much.

Have never noticed them - must keep an eye open in future!  Maybe we should start a 'Things you didn't know about Acton' thread!
