public consultation. Acton dive under

Network Rail will be running a public consultation on the proposals for  the schedule of works required for extending Acton Main Line station for the rest of the year. If you think you will be affected or are just interested, do go to St. Dunstans Church between 3pm and 7 pm. next Tuesday 29th. July. Could you tell any of your neighbours who might not see this posting.. The editor will publish the invitation from Network Rail shortly.

Bump. A bit worried no one has commented on this public consultation. With designs for the new Cross Rail station and a budget to be spent, I hope you are going to have your say. Could you mention the consultation to any neighbours who might not see on line information?

It might help if you could give us a clue as to what it is, where, when and why. I assume it's the work on the great western line to allow freight trains to continue without impacting on crossrail?

Nick I am not sure myself. The letter from Cross Rail simply gives time and place and refers to the dive under. They don't mention separating freight from passengers. I suspect it is going to be noisy for a while. Perhaps I will see you there?

Yes thanks Nick. Hope everyone living near Acton Main Line Station can make it to the public consultation at St Dunstans Church East Acton. I will be going and can ask questions for anyone who wants. Question one from Vlod . Why hold the consultation in East Acton? Plenty suitable venues closer to the site.

"Network Rail will be running a public consultation on the proposals for  the schedule of works required for extending Acton Main Line station for the rest of the year."This is not about "extending Acton Main Line station".  It concerns the work required to build the Acton dive-under or underpass, which will enable eastbound Crossrail trains to dive under the line that freight trains use when leaving Acton Yard towards the west.  Currently the two tracks cross on the level.  The dive-under itself, where the eastbound Crossrail track will be underneath the freight yard exit track, is just east of the Noel Road bridge, and the works will extend about 400 metres either side of Noel Road.  On the eastern side that means roughly as far as the Mayfield Road / Lynton Road junction.  It's all taking place on railway land, but nearby residents may be affected by noise and vibration during construction.
