Where is the nearest A&E after 10 Sept?

The distance from Acton to Northwick Park Hospital is 6.7 miles and takes 17 minutes!  That is going via Hanger Ln. and Wembley High Rd.  I can only imagine that is on clear roads and no obstructions.At least we still have CXH, but will they be taking Blue Light?  Acton to CXH  3.6 miles 13 minutes.Acton to St Mary's  5.6 miles 12 minutes.Acton to Ealing  3.8 miles 12 minutes.Somehow it'd quicker to get to St Mary's which is further away, using the A40.  Are these the times that were used when revamping our A&Es, and what time of day or night were these journey times invented.  It all sounds very iffy.  I know from experience that it takes 14 minutes at 3am on blue light from Grafton to CXH.

Nikki - all of these are bad enough if you're in an ambulance, which may be able to get through traffic.  What about someone using either their own car, or a taxi or minicab?  And who says the ambulance can get to you quickly - only an optimist!

To quote the glossy brochure: "Urgent Care Centres at both sites (Central Middlesex and Hammersmith) will continue to treat patients with minor illnesses and injuries that are urgent but not life-threatening, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."  Ealing Hospital has the same thing.

The nearest A&E will be the distance from wherever the A or the E happens. There seems to be an assumption that this is the distance from a home address. Do you have stats for the percentage of A&E admissions from a home address? Thought not.

Thats a really interesting point Peter. Perhaps it is not being properly publicised. However, how far apart are these life threatening A&E hospitals? When I lived in Cornwall some A&E's were an hour or more away.Perhaps we are better off here after all.For me its not the location that matters for the patient, but it doess for the patients relatives.
