New Trees on Acton High Street

I read somewhere that we were going to get new trees planted down  Acton High Street later on this year. Any more news on this proposal?

Fruit trees would be a great idea to brighten up the High Street.

I wonder what trees are being considered. Flowering cherries seem out of favour due to shallow roots bringing up paving stones but it would be great to have a flowering native tree like a hawthorn or even some fruit trees!

They also need to protect them against the vandalism which has afflicted other new trees in Acton.

Great will be nice to see some more trees down the High Street. Just hope that the correct drainage and planting is done so they don't die.

The funding for  50 trees for Acton High Street, Horn lane and Gunnersbury lane has now been approved. There are a few engineering challenges yet to overcome, but hopefully this will come to a successful outcome by late November.

Mill Hill Residents have led on this and got a grant I think for the trees. they are working with the Churchfield Community Association to get the planted sorted.
