electric car charging point

I recently bought and electric car. There is a government scheme that partly funds on-street charging points but Ealing Council doesn't seem to be interested in installing one in Acton. Are there any more electric car owners in Acton? It may be easier to get it approved if we apply as a group. thanks!

Yes, both myself and my husband drive electric and we know at least one other person in Acton who does, not sure how many of us we'd need  to convince them but happy to try.Is it possible to send direct messages on here?

I don't know anything about electric cars - but don't you charge them at your home or garage?  I don't know if there are any "public" electric charging points in Acton or Ealing.

They are usually in supermarket car parks, aren't they?  It will depend on where you live and where you travel where you'll need to find them. People don't just travel around their particular borough.I remember seeing them in Sainsbury's car park (just over the borough line I believe) in the London Borough of Hounslow.  I would often pass them after going to the London Borough of Ealing Household Recycling Centre in Stirling Road Acton and then on to the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.Isn't there a London list of these?  Doesn't Bassam Mahfouz drive an electric car?I would imagine that the problem in a built up area is that you can't easily charge your car at home and you probably won't have a garage.  I heard that they weren't used a lot - in fact I've never seen a public one being used.  So perhaps this is a sort of chicken and egg situation.

Electric cars seem to be a good idea, but they're rather expensive. Perhaps more of us should buy them and they'd become cheaper.

I saw electric car charging points at ASDA (near the Central Middlesex Hospital end of the parking lot).  Haven't tried it myself as I don't have an electric car.

The Ace Cafe has a charging point in its car park. The Ace can be found just off the North Circular at Stonebridge Park. Postcde is NW10 7UD. Not in Acton I know,but near enough. It's safe and secure - and you can eat,drink or just hang out while your car is charging. Got to be better than Asda's.

I didn't buy an ev for exactly this reason, but want to next summer. Not sure if it'll count for anything, but feel free to use my name in your group as a 'would do if I could charge it'

Thank you everyone. I received a reply from Ealing Council and unfortunately there is not enough funds to cover the cost of installation and energy bill at at the moment but it may change in the future as a private operator will fund the expansion of charging points (Bluepoint London). You can send your details to the council so you can be put on file for consideration. Contact details: Russell Roberts robertsru@ealing.gov.uk. The more people apply from the same area the bigger chances they will consider our request and install charging point in Acton.

Haven't read the thread so sorry if I am repeating something.Sainsbury's in Chiswick has 2 power points in the car park.Maybe Morisson's could be persuaded to install some.

Instead of expecting Council Tax payers to subsidise this why not have a look to see if you can get Government funding or European Funding or Mayoral funding?BTW one of the maps shows something near the Police Station doesn't it?
