Neighbourhood Local Planning Forum for Acton

Hi, I'm from Central Acton Neighbours' Forum. We've applied to be the planning forum for Acton. We'll produce local planning policy from the point of view of the residents, businesses and organisations.We strongly believe Acton needs a Neighbourhood Forum given all the proposed development in the area. Thanks very much for posting the link, Anne. A smart idea and agree it will help anyone new to neighbourhood planning. They can also google 'Localism Act' or 'Neighbourhood Forums' for further info. The policies the Forum produces have to be evidence based and we would involve Actonites/Actonians(?) in as many ways as possible to build this base up, e.g.: surveys, public meetings, talks, walkabouts, workshops, exhibitions, competitions, canvassing, focus groups, stalls, our website, digital mapping apps like Commonplace, working with local organisations and Residents Associations. We will have workgroups looking after different policy issues and working with existing organisations to cover the entire area so everyone will have their chance to speak up and let us know what they think and what they want.  We're very open to any ideas or suggestions and would love as many people to be as involved as possible. Can the forum consider better ways for the Council to keep residents informed about planning applications? Controversial developments which attract media coverage aside, most other plans seem to get approval with most of the people impacted been unaware of what is going on.

I agree, Alan, and I brought this point up at the Planning Scrutiny Group last night. I will post the comment form which'll also feed in to the evidence base for the group. I hope lots of people find the time to fill it out. We will look at this via the forum, though, as our policies have to be evidence based themselves, it's TBC as to whether we can stipulate this kind of thing
