I love Green Redeam!

I keep forgetting to check in that I've recycled but it has a lot of interesting information on there and you can easily collect some good vouchers.Congratulations on winning your prize and I hope you enjoy it!

Stopped bothering once there were no longer M&S vouchers on offer and one of the community groups who were the supposed beneficiaries of the scheme told me they literally only got pennies from it.

Seems a bit of a shower - they have been very obstructive to one worthwhile local scheme and never did the trussell trust one I was trying to get listed.It's just a way for private enterprise to get money from a gullible council off the back of recycling via social media, isnt it?I wonder what the targets are, how measurable and whether any of them have been met - and if so, whether that has anything to do with this company.

Recycling is going to increase because Ealing is going to incinerate more waste rather than send it to landfill. Green Redeem won't really have done anything to help this despite the hundreds of thousands it cost to introduce. Green Redeem is owned by an incineration company.

I thought that they were getting money from Mr Pickles.  Councils have to apply for whatever grants that department decides to make available.  It is a shame that you haven't managed to get a food bank on there.  There is lots of valuable information but most of it is already available elsewhere and I don't kow who really has the time to mess around playing with it.  I dip in and out.  I can't commit.  I don't have the time.  It is the nearest thing we have to paying people to recycle and hopefully will engage somebody new.Should we go back to charging people for their residual waste by the weight of it or will that just mean that recycling will be compromised?

I get a weekly email from Green Redeem and just need to click to claim points for recycling. I donate to the Education and Research fund for the  Selborne Society (last on list) and they seem more than happy for the contributions.

I noticed on a rare visit to Waitrose in West Ealing that they had a collection bin for food for the Trussell Trust.  Wouldn't it be good if all supermarkets did this.  For many people just adding something extra to their shopping trolley or basket and leaving it in the store is easy and affordable.  I suspect that the hassle factor of organising it is a bigger problem for many willing to give than simply the cost of a tin of beans or can of sardines. So making it this easy to give is wonderful.

oh and I have now received my voucher - only had to chase them twice! Useful for Xmas though as it seems to be taken in a wide range of shops and on line.

I think Tesco and Trussell trust have a relationship which means lots of collection points. Jolly helpful (but doesnt reconcile me to going into the Tesco on the Uxbridge Road which is ghastly)Or, if you have seasonal goodies, you could take them into the Oak tree fellowship tomorrow (Friday) 1330-1630.

I don't check my emails every day and there are an awful lot of unsolicited (well sort of) that I just delete as there are too many coming in.I do like the idea of the sort of Advent calendar though.  Although I haven't had time to read it.I reckon that October and November are the months for sorting out the freezer and making space in it for for Christmas goodies AND leftovers.  That should help people to not overbuy fresh produce in panic at the last minute which is so obscene when there are so many people using food banks.I look forward to seeing more tubs for donations to food banks in the supermarkets and we should all be calling on them to find better ways of reducing their waste eg handing it on to the food banks and homeless concerns.Don't forget the difference between Best Before and Use By dates!http://www.therubbishdiet.org.uk/?s=Best+Before+and+Use+By
