Charing X

Nicky Howard, frequent correspondent to this Forum is back in Charing X again poor thing. She asks me to write about her complaints. The main problem is that she doesn't want to be there at all, much prefers Central Middx. because her notes are there, the food is more to her taste, and she gets on better with the medical staff. Problem is that she usually arrives in hospital via acute ambulance and of course Central Mid do not take admissions that way anymore. She would like to be transferred to the hospital of her choice once a decision is made to admit her. Her requests fall on deaf ears. I do sympathise. Anyone with suggestions?

Overarchingly, please wish Nicky well.If, sadly, it is not care from a specialist department then there will little chance of being moved. If however Nicky requires specialist care then it makes sense for her to be moved to the facility providing it.Having been an in-patient twice at CXH I have to say the food is one of the very many strong points. :-) They do a 'blinding' curry.

Thank you Nigel. Nicky can read the forum, just not contribute at the moment, so she can see your good wishes for herself.She is now back at home, the OT department having sorted out some care for her and her own GP has visited her. I was very pleased to hear this. There might be a bit of a problem with her dog. I can walk some days, and her cleaner can do others, but if any of you good people out there could sometimes take the hound for a trot, Nicky would be easier in her mind and it would be a kindness. The dog is friendly and easy to manage.

I would offer but crutches and a dog lead are not a great combination :-)

maire - sorry to hear about Nicky - I wish her well.  As far as dog walking is concerned, local vets may have details of dog walkers - would you like me to do some phoning round?

Thanks Nina. As always you are very good.I think we are looking more for volunteers here. Nickys helper will probably walk the dog some of the time, so people who can give him a bit of a leg stretch would be helpful.I can pass on any messages to Nicky.Thanks in advance
