Cllr Blacker,The residents of Denehurst/Willcott/Hillcrest objected in the initial consultation on the new traffic scheme for the very reason that our streets would obviously become even more of a rat run than they were previously. This would be easier to accept if said traffic scheme had solved the traffic and pollution problems of the Horn Lane/Uxbridge rd/Gunnersbury Lane area, but it has not. So now we have to decide which is the lesser of 2 evils, annoyance of the increased traffic in our streets or the inconvenience of having roads closed. Our objections, despite proving to be valid, were ignored in the first consultation so why bother to express an opinion now? I personally would rather the roads were not closed but think just like the original scheme it is a done deal. The increased traffic is also caused by users of the 'no car' Pure Gym and the 'no car' development on the tram depot site, who park their cars here. Those of us who pay to park our cars often cannot, and I don't mean right in front of my house I mean anywhere on the street morning, noon or night. I have spoken to the council about this and they have said they will speak to the gym as apparently there were conditions on the lease but I've heard nothing back and realistically I wont. The gym users will do what's easiest and cheapest, why walk further to the council car park when you can park free on the streets around the corner? The gym won't want to annoy their customers and the council won't get anyone else to take the lease, it was empty ages. Which leaves the residents where? At the bottom of the heap as usual.
