We have always bought ours from the stall at the market. They have never dropped and always lasted well.

They are on sale on the Mount today - but the ones cut off and stuck in a block of wood - I (no expert - we don't do them) thought you wanted them in a tub with roots. Or is that hopelessly old-fashioned?A tip in today's paper (HUGE feature on Xmas trees)is that the weight of a tree tells you you how fresh it is - and therefore how likely to drop. If it feels heavy for height, it was harvested recently and fairly locally maybe, if light for height then probably shipped in from Lithuania (who knew?) and likely to shed early as chopped down months ago.
