12.12.14 Police at top of Alfred Road

The area by Sainsbury's was completely cordoned off with police tape this morning. Anyone know why?

I asked (being naturally nosey!) and was told it was due to something in the flats above the Sainsbury. Apparently incidents are quite frequent.There was a police car just sitting at 0720 when I was buying blueberries.

I believe it was a stabbing and possibly more than one person is in hospital.  Police are still there and it involved a Pizza Hut bike, I believe.  There is almost daily anti-social behaviour involving the residents who live in the flats above Sainsburys.  The Police are often called and Alfred Road itself has become a rat-run for getaway cars of those involved in all kinds of questionable behaviours.  Why isn't there any CCTV there?  I'm informed there isn't.  What are our Police and Councillors doing about this?  Apparently the problem has been going on for around 2 years and getting worse.

Surely no-one in their right mind would use Alfred Road as a getaway route? Unless on a bike. It's wholly unpredictable as to whether the traffic will be backed up half way up or, indeed, whether, due to the appalling parking of Sainsbury's delivery trucks, yo will be able to turn down it at all.Angela, you could raise it at the Ward Forum - the police do seem to take some note of things discussed there.

I seem to remember there was a row on this forum when planning permission was put in to cram in an unsuitably large number of very small flats in to the building above Sainsburys.Don't know if that has anything to do with the rise in  anti-social behaviour there - but thought it was worth mentioning.

That's awful to hear about the possible stabbing. There are often lots of people who hang around outside the little door to the side of Sainsbury's (the flats I suppose). It makes you feel uneasy walking past. Can't believe there is no CCTV on this corner.

I remember that well, Richard.I don't remember the planning committee or department taking any notice of local concerns though. Do you?

I can't remember what happened.But the narrative "residents complain about planning application for too many flats crammed into small area, flats still get built, flats then become hot-spot for anti-social behaviour" - is not a massive advert for the council's decision making (if it turns out that that is what went on here)

I know - wholly predictable with the landlord making the profit and the rest of us bearing the costs - see Sue's post on the other thread - sounds a nightmare for local residents.Was suggesting that tomorrow's Xmas fair will bring the (relatively) great and good of Ealing and its council to Acton - electioneering if nothing else - which would be a neat lobbying opportunity.

Councillor Yvonne Johnson said she would pursue this on behalf of local residents when I saw her at the Xmas fair today.
