Iceland Closing on 31 Dec 14

Got a text message to say that due to circumstances beyond their control the Oaks Iceland will be closing on 31 December 2014. Another useful shop gone for this poxey Waitrose.

Yet another ridiculous decision. Does anyone know if all the shops in the Oaks are closing down? Just a bit confused by all this.

I think Boots is staying and the shoe repairer at the front,  at least that is what the lady at the shoe repairers said.Surely for building work to be done the rest will have to go?

I think The Oaks, the building itself was reaching the end of its useful life.Over the years I've seen repairs for what appeared to be rain water seeping through the ceilings around the stair case and stores at the back.  Poundstretcher and Nisa supermarket (now Sports Direct)I'll be using Iceland - East Acton

It's all right if you have a car but I don't drive so it's a really pain all these local shops closing down.

We will miss Iceland, Poundstretcher, the 99p store, and Savers, unfortunately it appears the shoe repair stall will remain, this shop shoild be tucked away in a corner not the first thing shoppers see as they enter Ths Oaks. Not everyone has a car to shop in shops like Iceland in East Acton, or Poundstretcher in West Ealing, that is surely going to make life more difficult for the elderly and those with reduced mobility.People using shopping trolleys are limited to how much they can carry as it is difficult getting these trolleys on busses.It is ridiculous state of affairs to lose all these locsl shops and they will be replaced by a Waitrose store in a couple of years, sadly not everyone can afford to shop at Waitrose so many residents will lose out, unless they are able to travel to Ealing for shopping.All we have in Acton High Street are betting shops, estate agents and coffee shops
