ASDA Xmas Order

Ordered xmas shopping on Sunday for delivery today by 7pm. Confirmation received. No show by 7.30pm so my husband rings, only to be notified that the order was cancelled! Some ridiculous explanation about the payment not going through. One, there is money in the bank and 2, why not notify us if that was the case.They are claiming that we'll have delivery by tomorrow but can't confirm a time.  We've got some pizzas in the freezer but not enough for 12! Looks like a late night  food shopping trip for us tonight!

According to the papers Sainsburys and Waitrose have suffered the same problems.

I've used Ocado ever since they started and have only had one late delivery.  My Christmas order arrived an hour early today (due to a mistake on the part of the driver) had no substitions  and I was able to amend it without any problems last night.  Happy Christmas ocado!

I have this brilliant delivery service:It's called HelenIf she insists on us giving a Xmas eve party, she does the shopping and brings it round.Just awaiting her arrival now....

Shopping all done this morning between Asda and Morrisons. Morrisons surprisingly well stocked and relatively quiet at 8.30am. What's to bet the Asda delivery turns up!

My Waitrose order came but with lots of items unavailable. Luckily I was able to pick up most of them in Ealing when collecting the turkey. Poor though, and I will be writing to them. The delivery guy told me they only have one depot for the whole of London - it happens to be based in Acton. But they are opening another next year.

Delivering on Christmas Eve but with numerous items missing is almost as bad as not delivering at all.

Gerry - we got everything we needed this morning so would have turned it away. Credit to them, they called at midday to arrange a delivery but it was no longer needed.Hope everyone gets their deliveries!

I worked at the Waitrose depot about three years ago before I caught whooping cough from someone there and had to give the whole idea up.At that time they were using Tesco's old system and in my opinion they were not ready for prime time.On the other hand Ocado deliver for Waitrose and I have only once had a failed delivery and hardly ever a missing item.

Bob = Ocado was set up with the assistance of Waitrose, but Waitrose pulled out several years ago and Ocado is now on its own.  They still sell a lot of Waitrose products, although increasingly they sell their own brand.  I've used them since they started in this area and have only had a couple of late deliveries - never a failed one, and rarely get substitutions.  But I have tried Waitrose and were not impressed - too many missing and substituted items.

How much do OCADO charge for delivery please?

Gerry -  it's a sliding scale depending when you have your delivery - averages around £6 I think.  Christmas deliveries more expensive.  But if you are a regular shopper with them it pays to have what is called a 'Smsrt P Pass' which costs just over £100 for a year and includes Christmas deliveries.  As I shop from them on a weekly basis it's a very good buy.

At unpopular times I think it goes down to nearly nothing but they are unpopular for good reason!
