Sometimes alterations can contribute to excess noise, landlords trying to cram too many tenants into each property.Also renovations which include wooden floors and wooden staircases without carpets, open plan livinng making the room into an echo box has happened to the neighbour's house. A wooden staircase to a loft room is right next to our bedroom wall, so we get noise from 7am with people running up and down the stairs!The neighbours are aware of the situation but they have small children so it would appear thay nothing can be done about it.Perhaps soundproofing would be a solution in your case, it might also help us but we are not in position to pay for soundproofing, anyway we are not making the noise!The Council can advise but you would need to keep a log and it would really have to be excessive and prolonged noise before they will do anything about it.Living next door to a noisy household is a challenge but we have no intention of moving house, we have lived here for 37 years!
