Attempted burglary Shalimar Gardens

Just been informed by my neighbours that they disturbed burglars early yesterday evening. The house looked empty - they were sitting at the back of the house. The burglars gained entry by levering out a piece of wood from the wooden corner of the sash window frame. A front window facing the street with no hedge or bushes in the garden. This is so bold. Making me think about additional security.

Had an attempted burglary at about the same time; dark, after the rush hour, perfect for identifying if anyone is at home and minimal chance of passers by. They didn't take account of my alert neighbour, who heard a noise and spotted the two blokes.Leaving a light on will deter 99% of burglars.
