Fix My Street website/app

Hello everyoneCan I please encourage you all, if you're not already, to use the website https://www.fixmystreet.com/ and the accompanying app to report environmental issues to Ealing? I hate to say it, but I find myself on there weekly. I have targeted areas around our street which are 'hotspots' for fly-tipping, and whilst it's not completely stopped, it has slowed a little, and Ealing even erected a penalty sign on a popular spot recently. If Ealing is receiving lots and lots of fly-tipping reports, it might actually justify employing more environmental officers. Of course the pessimistic side of me thinks they might kill more off if they think we can do their job for them!Rubbish in Acton really depresses me - if we all banded together to help put a stop to it, we might just achieve good things.

The council should also fine landlords heavily for dumping mattresses and all sorts when they get new lodgers.Also we have persistent tenants who just throw their unwanted rubbish out on the pavement, sometimes just the day after the contractors have been.I have reported these people to Streetwatchers, just hoping it will not be too long before action is taken to stop this.Since the new contractors took over the standards have really slipped.

Great work! In my experience, it will get fixed, and rubbish is collected relatively promptly, but you can also leave follow-up messages on your report if no action has taken place. I just think it would be great if Ealing's inbox were suddenly full of environmental issues to fix to make it nicer for everyone.

If litter according to last weeks news reduces house prices by 12%. How about sueing Ealing Council for the loss of value.

I have found www.fixmystreet.com a very useful website.  There is also a www.fixmytransport.com which may be useful to people - you may find other people who are having the same problem or same ideas.I wish more traders could be encouraged to look after the pavements outside their shops.  It won't do their businesses any good if their customers or prospective customers trip and fall. It is a very easy system to use and the map makes it easy to pinpoint the problem.I have reported dislodged kerbstones, tilting and rocking paving stones, broken manhole covers etc that I have encountered on my travels from place to place.  I have found the Council good in dealing with these.I like the way that there is a follow up and I like the way that if there is a problem you can see whether anyone else has reported it and when it was reported etc.

This is heartening to read, that there are others out there with similar concerns. I wasn't aware of Fix My Transport, but as a daily commuter I'll certainly check it out!I, too, am angry that many traders in Acton seem to think it's perfectly acceptable to dump their commercial waste next to rubbish bins. Ealing has to get serious about this.

Ealing Council web site has an online facility for reporting problems but it is much better to use Fixmystreet as the are more likely to respond quickly to a complaint that is in the public domain.

To be fair LBE seems to have been/be a lot more proactive in prosecuting traders who dump their waste on the pavement than LB Hounslow is.  You do see reports of prosecutions in the local papers and in Press Releases on the Council website.  I was referring more to sweeping the pavement and informing the Council when there is a problem with broken manhole covers and cable TV access covers etc.

The Council finally sent someone to photograph the dodgy manhole cover today. In the dark. In the middle of the rush hour. It's a start.
