The Acton Central bookswap is empty!

I don't know if it's lots of people borrowing a single book and not returning itorone or two taking masses of volumes for some nefarious reason.I only have three donated volumes left - which I will put down there this morning.But I know over 3,000 books have been placed there since June 2012 - surely some of those must still be in circulation.All donations - either direst to the swap or, of paperbacks, to me for backup, gratefully received.

There is also a small book swap at "Stamford Book" station. It's inside the barriers, not sure how that affects the way it works.

We have largely given up on labels - too much like hard work!So you just put them on the shelves whenever you want to do so.Most of the donations are pretty local, so I am not worried by another one at Chiswick Park - in fact glad to hear it. Books For London would like one at every station!

Do you just put the books you want to donate onto the shelves or is there a more formal procedure (reference to labels earlier in the thread?)Also I believe there is a similar system now at Chiswick Park (?) so maybe donation resources are getting shared more?

We haven't had to positively ask for donations for ages - they have just come in blissfully, one after another.But there were fewer than a dozen books there this morning.Dunno if it's just attrition or the phantom book thief has started up again.Supplies really welcome. thanks

When I get some more labels, would you like some?It might help...I have seen some return - I have also stood there and seen people return them and chatted about it. So it does happen.

We regularly drop books off, probably more than 50 over the months, but have yet to see any of our donations returned to the shelves.

Thanks to those who are donating - two shelves full and new labels ordered.I have place labels in just on 3,000 books since we started in June 2012.More literacy, less landfill!

Noticed last night it was empty, on my way down this morning, but probably only a dozen today.

On Tuesday I put a load of books in, a dozen or more. And the shelves were about half full then. So it looks like someone has swooped in and taken the lot. Oh well I will have to get reading and bring some more.
