Where can I get a copy of this week's Ealing Gazette?

My local newsagent stopped receiving copies at the new year and a garage I had recently found a pile of copies didn't seem to get any this week. I'm keen to support our local paper which I contend remains a good read but it is hard to if I can't get a copy.The presumption would be that they have been forced to cut the print run further following Ealing Council's decision to reduce the number of public notices they put in tbe paper. If any one is aware of deposit points in the East Acton area then please post here.

The young journalists at the Gazette would have been more than capable of doing a good quality analysis of the Julian Bell situation. Even if you dispute this, the Trinity Mirror group has legions of experienced journalists who could have been drafted in to supervise the production of the article. Therefore, your second option, namely that they are running scared seems to be more credible.It may be a coincidence but the most recent Around Ealing Magazine came with a flier aggressively promotion their advertising services. This seems an odd thing to do when the magazine will be out of production for an extended period due to the election. Perhaps someone's card was being marked.

The Gazette does cover this story this week but in a relatively small item on the inside pages under the title - "Leader has 'no case to answer' on home claims". It speaks of 'claims in a national tabloid newspaper' that Julian Bell owns a property in Acton as well as occupying a house under a housing association tenancy. This seems a strange way to describe the situation. The tenancy and ownership of a property are not facts that are disputed by either side.The paper has chosen to relegate this story to relative obscurity in favour of a piece about the progress of landscaping improvements around Haven Green.

With regards to the Gazette delivery, I have noticed that it is often only available on Monday rather than on Friday/Saturday when it should be in the shops. Perhaps they have cut back on delivery people, and Acton is one of the last areas/the last area to get the paper?

That's disappointing. Clearly the squeeze is being put on the Gazette. It is hard to see the recent pulling of planning notices by the Council as coincidental. Presumably the message to the Gazette is that more cuts to advertising will be made unless they steer clear of certain topics.

Managed to get my hands on a copy from a local estate agent.There is no mention whatsoever of the questions being raised about the leader of Ealing Council at the moment. Whatever your political view point it is difficult to argue that the points that the leader of the opposition have made need to be seriously addressed and reported on.The lead item is about a possible last minute bid to save the Solace mental health centre. The rest of the paper has nothing vaguely critical of the Council including one item on the installation of LED light which we are told will save lots of money but with no mention of the large number of complaints people where they have been installed about lack of sleep due to the glare.

Or maybe Nigel they refill popular collection spots during the course of the week.I managed to get last week's no problem - it is today's edition I am after. No worries, I'll probably be at Morrisons at some point over the weekend and there probably will be one there.

I should have picked you one up when I w s in Sainsbury's yesterday. Sadly the 'dump bins' were still virtually full of last week's issues. Seemingly they can't even give it away.

Thanks both. Maire, I have read the details of the story on this site but I was just interested to see the Gazette's take on it. With Ealing Council withdrawing planning notices from the paper are they going for the Council leader with both barrels or have they been cowed into submission by the threat of more revenue being taken away from them?

If you are searching for the story of Julian Bell's housing issues, the latest is on the front page of this magazine. If you are also interested in his family and their unfortunate scrapes with the NHS service, a charming picture of his daughter with her baby is in yesterday's Standard and available on line. The Gazette seems to be dropped at Morissons.

At the eastern end of Churchfield Road there are a couple of estate agents (same side of the road as the churchyard) which usually have stands outside with copies of the Gazette.

Sad to report this week there was no Gazette again. I was keen to see what they had to say on the latest allegations concerning Julian Bell. Did anyone manage to get a copy today?

Pleased to report that the Gazette is back at the location I pick it up from this week and I spotted it at another local newsagent that didn't stock it before. Clearly they have dealt with what looks like temporary deliver problems.

Morrison's have a pile in the foyer. Some estate agents have them outside their shops. Our local newsagent in Horn Lane usually has a pile too.
