Atmospheric PollutantsIn addition to dust and noise, the emission of airborne pollutants is a major challenge in our cement business. While dust and noise are produced at many stages in the production process, airborne pollutants such as carbon monoxide, sulfuric oxide, heavy metals, dioxin, and furan are produced only during pyroprocessing. The emission of these pollutants is monitored on an ongoing basis, and we are committed to reducing airborne pollutants with new filtering technologies and innovative production processes. "pyroprocessing"I'd be very surprised if this took place in Acton, as that's what happens at those giant cement works out in the country, due to needing a lot of space (the four nearest London are all in the Thames Estuary area).Acton's plant, so far as I can see, produces concrete for London's burgeoning construction sector, which involves a fair bit of dust but not much burning things.
