Friars Green Community Planting Morning 10th May

Looked great!  I had to miss it, as working away.  My husband and daughter had a lovely time.  Just going there now so she can cycle and I can see what's been planted.  Thanks to Kim!  Thanks for the plants and cakes, all who donated. I shall send photos to the Editor for the article on the event.

We had a lovely morning with a mixture of gardeners old and young, experienced and merely enthusiastic. There are pictures on the way and some talk of a Teddy Bears'picnic soon. Many thanks to Kim and her team for organising everything , bringing the cake and the beautiful bunting and to all who contributed plants. Without Kim it wouldn't have happened.We all agreed. We felt we were a community this morning.

Kim I have a lot of hardy geraniums mostly spec. pratense, with dark blue or maroon flowers. They will flower three times a year if cut down and fed after flowering and happily set seed. Also some lychnis coronaria with shocking pink flowers, also freely set seed. Please pp me if you would like some. I am unable to come on Sunday

Thanks for all your support.Bedding plants will look good in a few weeks but we could sew a few packs of cosmos seeds to have a spectacular display at the end of summer. I will thin out my Irises and anything else that is rampant in my garden.Bring cakes, I am making cup cakes as they are easy to make but most importantly bring yourselves and children. We also need someone to take photos and I will do some face painting.All your suggestions are welcome especially planting advice.
