Sorry, but I have to disagree here. The proposed bins are a blessing even though they might not look nice.If you currently have a little black container for rubbish in your front garden, you're lucky if it gets emptied by the lazy bin people about once a month (at least where I live) - with the container kicked about on occasion and the lid most certainly on the floor, especially when it is raining so then your bin fills with water. These guys are hooligans! The proposed bins would stop this sort of behaviour - the lids come down automatically when the bin has been emptied.What concerns me more is the size of the proposed bins - we should be able to pick a smaller size if we don't have much rubbish - rather than one size fits all.I only fill a small black bag every 3 weeks because I recycle religiously (managed to do that even with a house guest who was staying for a couple of weeks) - perhaps that's where the problem is - most people don't recycle properly - minimising landfill rubbish is what we need to do for the sake of our children - - - but when I put my stuff out for once, I would like it to go that week, thank you.Most of us can do more to recycle, and I would like to see some proper education as to recycling - house to house if needed - there are endless proerties in my road with heaps of bin bags every weeek
