As regards the Market, Action Acton set this up from scratch-initially as a result of a successful bid for LDA funding--in order to regenerate the area, bring Acton's diverse communities together and provide opportunities for local people to set up in self employment (we won a national award as a result of this). Action Acton worked hard on establishing the Market and it was Action Acton who brought in the London Farmers Market on Saturdays- when many people said LFM would never come to Acton! Unfortunately local residents didn't buy enough goods from LFM so they left after about 18 months. We are hoping to bring more arts/crafts/food stalls back in the future. Please support them ! Most of our charity's work is helping disadvantaged people (unemployed, NEET young people, offenders, lone parents , refugees, older people , people with mental health issues) improve their lives through providing opportunities for 'Education, Employment and Enterprise'-- but like all charities, in the current climate we face an extremely difficult funding situation. We always welcome support from local people and have excellent volunteers involved in our work. We are rebranding to Action West London next month to reflect the fact that we operate across Ealing, Hounslow and adjoining boroughs-- but we will still continue to work actively in Acton and also build on and improve the Market which we run as a social enterprise. We also help young people, schools, Autistic society, Blue Cross, Mindfood and other charities through providing opportunities at the Market. Hope this clarification helps.
