Damp diagnosis and treatment

Any local recommendations for a company that can identify the source of damp patches and treat the problem? Many thanks.

I had four companies send surveyors - two independents and two of the big chains - to investigate the cause of damp patches in my bathroom.The independents suggested work costing upwards of £1000. But - surprise surprise - the chaps from Rentokill and Peter Cox said it wasn't rising damp at all. The drains outside were shot and water was coursing back into the wall. Both recommended remedial works costing a few hundred pounds. Gary Carty, the surveyor from Peter Cox, was brilliant. Dear NeilMy son recently had a problem with damp in his flat in Brighton and i did lots of research. There are so many disreputable damp firms out there, that in the end we used an independent surveyor. The advice he gave was invaluable and well worth the expense.
