I decided that anything that can help people to understand and encourage recycling is a good idea. They have a lot of interesting snippets of information - if you have the time to read them. Personally I've never been interested in earning points for vouchers but there are people who do find this worthwhile and do get a buzz from this. I've tended to donate any points that I've earned. I DO find the projects that you can donate your points to interesting. However it is not what I would have chosen to spend money on to encourage greater participation. I'd have preferred problem areas to have been targeted with information, education, help (of various kinds), warnings and ultimately if no success fixed penalty notices.I wouldn't be unduly worried about the fact that Greenredeem is now owned by Grundon who also have an incinerator. It is even worse in Hounslow where the collection is by SITA who are busy building an incinerator for residual waste. I think you will find that all these companies have interests in different facilities. Landfill Tax has just gone up again, market rates for different recyclates change, there is talk of bans on various items in landfill etc. You have to ask in whose interests the messing about with the collection, information and contracts is. It is always surprising how some teams in some areas can make a good and neat and successful collection and others just don't seem to be able to.
