planning permission for South Acton regeneration

Jo, Bob to say I am disgusted with what is happening in Acton would be putting it mildly. I agree with Angela, there is a huge degree of arrogance and complacency running through the council. Because we all operate as separate groups we are easy to control and handle.The RA's and groups need to get together and talk.

I can only speak for the leaseholders.  We have an opportunity to move in to one of the new properties near South Acton station however these properties cost double what the council have offered us for our current property.  In addition, the new properties do not have gardens (which we currently do) and no parking is available.  If we were able to purchase a parking space like our current property has (which we're not as current tenants) they would cost £20,000 each.  As far as I know, the council tenants are being moved over to a housing association.

That's not good, but not surprising.  What is it that the Council aren't listening to specifically?  It's good that people are now beginning to speak up.  Several of us met with residents on the Wornington Green estate in W10 (another Catalyst job).  People just aren't happy but are being run roughshod over.

I am a resident on the South Acton Estate and also sit on the Acton Gardens Community Board and the Redbrick Residents Association and I can tell you that although the developers and housing association [London and Quadrant] make cursory enquiries with the residents most residents here feel the Council are ignoring them and their wishes are not being listened too.

Can you tell us more about what is happening with tenants? Are you being rehoused on site or is this another example of social cleansing?

Hi Jan,I am also a resident and feel like we are not getting a fair deal from the council.  A group of residents will object to the planning permission.  Peter - I would be interested to know your thoughts on the regeneration process.Jo

Hi Peter,Yes you're right, there is lots of information on yousouthacton.com.And the programme is a proper partnership between the council, the housing association and the developers...however sadly not the residents.Jo

There's loads of information on the regeneration programme here:http://www.yoursouthacton.co.ukThe whole programme has outline planning permission with the detailed plans of the next stages being submitted in phases as the redevelopment progresses.It is a proper partnership between residents, the council, the housing association and the developers. A textbook example of how a huge regeneration programme should be done.

Jo, when I tried to click onto the documents area for this planning application there are none and one has to write in to the Council?  Do you have the documentation?  Why is this?  From what I can see the planning application is still open for objection, but how can one if there are no documents to see?  It's the dreaded capitalist developers again.  ;-)
