Parking Permit renewal

Alerted by the number of friends who have had parking fines because of not renewing their permits, they had not received the usual notification and not been alerted to the changes, I decided to be very proactive and renew it despite not getting any communication from the council about the changes. Mine is due to expire in 3 weeks while we are away.I dug out last years letter to retrieve the pin number only to find that this didn't work.Fortunately we managed to talk to a nice lady  at the council who acknowledge the chaos this has been and provided us with the Pin.Unless you have registered to get the email notification, usually 28 days in advance, you will not get the email. This is necessary as the pin changes every year so without it you cannot renew online. There is a surcharge if you renew in person, £15 and my understanding is that you can apply by post to get the email with the pin number.complete and utter chaos, something that should be really simple made complicated. If you are due to renew your permit don't leave it to the last minute.

A similar vein we recently moved house and had to change out permit from a K to an MM.The website is useless, it still instructs you to take you permit to the council. Of course its hard to take an e-permit into an office building.Eventually someone on the phone told me I could e-mail them the request with scans of supporting documents. So I did. And waited.And waited.And eventually called them when they repeated the same thing and said "It will take up to 10 days" to which I said "I mailed you 11 days ago."Actually he was quite nice at this point, found the request and agreed to sort it out.He called me back a few hours later to say "Its done"But I was out of the house.My car was now in K with an MM permit.His expectation was that I move it immediately. After waiting 11 days this seemed very high minded.  One rule for them, another rule for me.When I tried to explain it was clear he had no interest.I considered leaving it there and getting a parking ticket just to appeal but in the end raced home.Surreal.

Posted on the W5 Forum earlier but seems to be more response looking at this thread over here.  I registered for the reminder email for my annual parking permit when the letter came and I have the acknowledgment email to prove it. The reminder never came ,the reason I know this is that I got a parking ticket yesterday and on checking on line today indeed my permit expired a few days ago. The point is if you are told you will receive a reminder then that to my mind is what you wait for to re-new. I have written a complaint on line to the council today ( impossible to speak to a human voice) and await their response. I wonder where I stand on paying the fine.

Go to council web site, under parking services, see if you can findPermit Expiration Date Checker You can use this facility to check the expiration date of your permit and the permit number registered to the vehicle. All you need to do is input your vehicle registration number in the box below, ensuring there are no spaces and click ‘search’. Enter Your VRM I'm covered until 31/7/16.

Are you claiming the council keep moving the goal posts?I asked to be sent the application forms, which arrived a week later. Filled them in, sent them back with all documentation, heard nothing since. That was back in June. Now the question is, am I covered, or not, as they no longer issue paper permits?

This is what happens when people give permission to greedy councils' to impose the 'controlled' parking zones, which take away residents' right to park freely in their roads.  We only have ourselves to blame.  Everyone was fooled that the scheme was to halt commuter traffic clogging our roads etc, guess we didn't see that it was such a huge cash generator which seems to increase on a monthly basis. Never trust any council when they say its for the benefit of the resident, it never really is I'm afraid! Now the only big winner is the one in 'control', namely Ealing Council, as always, playing games and as always, changing the rules abruptly.

Dreadful service.  Whoever came up with this revised service should be fired! Requested PIN number by email, no reply.  Left a message no reply.  Chased email received a reply directly me to a link to request pin which didn't work.  Gave up and applied for a new parking permit, and can't be sure it went through as there was no email confirmation at the end.  They don't want to even send email confirmation through!!!!  They prefer no form of communication, how ridiculous.

This 'system' is absolutely ridiculous. I thought I had done everything right. I also kept my PIN from last year and have been rigorously checking my permit online, which said everything was renewed. Then I checked last night and it said it was 'expired'. I have been working away during the week, so couldn't check expiry date on the car, this wouldn't be possible now anyway as they don't issue paper permits.What kind of council is that you have to contact your councillor to sort out a parking permit?And it is seemingly impossible to call the council as the only numbers take you through a laborious voicemail system that just directs you back to the website.The whole system is a shambles. Sick to the back teeth of this council!

I did that and got an email telling me they would respond to my request within 10 working days! I am still waiting for that response.Fortunately, after writing an email to my local councillor, Cllr Dan Crawford, this has now all been sorted out

To get the PIN ...https://ealing.xrxpsc.com/OnlinePermits/PermitRenewalNew.aspxthen type in your permit number (it is on your paper permit that you have on your car) and email address - and click "Request" at the bottom.Mine came within 2 minutes of clicking.

The phone line is NEVER answered you just go round and round listening to endless recorded messages! I too left a message to no avail.However,  they sent a PIN by post following my e-mail request (whilst waiting I used my visitor vouchers,  great to pay twice).I have registered to get a reminder by e-mail next year.  It is a shambles really.

I have been trying to renew my parking permit for two weeks, but I can't get a pin number. I have emailed, I have phoned. The phones are not answered, so you have to ask for a call back. I have been waiting for days for one.

I emailed parkingservices@ealing.gov.uk and had a reply within a couple of days and the pin arrived in the post a couple of days after that.  I also emailed them to register for future email alerts.  A lady called Mary responded to my email.

Nearly 3 weeks for me now trying to renew my residents permit. I have tried everything to get my pin number. Various callback requests, even via the switchboard, but nothing has worked!I really don't know what to do from here. I can keep calling to request a callback and keep emailing them but they are simply not responding.If anybody has any joy please let us know.

No neither would I,  I thought it was odd I had not received a renewal letter but as that is what happens EVERY year thought nothing further until I saw this.  My permit expired last week,  I spent ALL of Friday trying to get through to a person in parking rather than endless recorded messages all to no avail.My renewal letter from last year which I kept has NOTHING to indicate the procedure was due to change and the Council sent NO documentation to say the procedure was changing.  I used multiple 1 hour visitor vouchers to pay for Friday!  And cannot renew without a PIN it's a bloody disgrace!!

I have been trying for the last week and a half to get my renewal pin. What a nightmare!It is less than 28 days for my renewal so no pin email for me. I sent the suggested email to register my email address but that didn't work as when I go to the site and request a pin to be sent it tells me no email address is associated to my permit.I then tried the phone route. I could only arrange a call back which I got within a day or so, great I thought. The guy who called took my details, verified name and address, etc. and said I would receive my pin by email in the next few minutes. I should have kept him on the line as the email never came so after all that I was no further forward.I have since emailed them, left more callback requests and still nothing.This whole situation is ridiculous. They have moved to a new approach that doesn't seem to have been thought through and definitely doesn't work. I feel sorry for the people who will end up getting a ticket due to this shoddy service.
