Council saved Catalyst Housing around £200,000

I went to see the Perfume Factory plans tonight (more on that in another posting).  Got chatting to the designers and developers who were open to all kinds of questions.  Despite Ealing Council telling them there was no need to undergo an EIA (environmental impact assessment) they felt that they should get one carried out due to the size and height of the development.  Now that's responsible and shows integrity. I asked how much an EIA is for that kind of development.  Around £200,000.Ealing Council decided the plans for Friary Park didn't warrant an EIA, despite the pollution near Horn Lane, the noise, wind, flood risk, possible old fuel tanks under the estate from Walls Factory, etc, nor did they take into account the cumulative effect with all the builds going on.  Shameful.

Yes we have and the reply came that the screening process said no need for an assessment. We are asking again with a bit morevauthority and some significant support. Have you joined the Friary Green Residents Association to lend your support? It's free and every vote counts. This is your neighbourhood.

Have you asked for the assessment to be made? Surely with the lack of good air quality in the area it should have been carried out?    £200000? - if that's the case, then it's a serious issue.

For the sake of the people already living in the area especially the children and the elderly and people of any age with breathing problems the Council must act now. The blanket excuse that we need more houses doesn't wash. Ealing Council will exceed the targets set by the Mayor because I'd South Acton regeneration. There is a duty of care to the rest of us. If you haven't signed the petition to Martin Smith please do so now. We will hand it in tomorrow.
