Do you want another huge imposing block of flats on Gunnersbury Lane?

A 3 storey building with 9 flats, proposed at 79 Gunnersbury Lane and the neighbouring car park, will affect everyone. I urge you to look at the plans and see how out of scale it is. I admit to a vested interest - in that it will block the evening light  in our home and obliterate our open aspect.  So yes I have strong views, but  that aside I still ask you to look at the plans for 79 Gunnersbury Lane on the ealing council planning website.

The building directly adjacent on Gunnersbury  Lane is 3 storeys. The first house on Avenue Road that abuts the development plot is also 3 storeys, although it is separated by about 60 feet of garden from where the new flats would be. Next you have a 3 storey block of flats on the corner of Avenue Road and Heathfield Road.

The majority of the plot stands at the start of the conservation area where the houses are 2 storeys. If you look at the plans for this proposed  development, with its roof gardens and large light well it will tower over the surrounding buildings to effectively 4 storeys. In addition imagine the street scene with its proposed balconies which are likely to be used for storage, clothes lines and and shielding material such as rush matting and bamboo.  This site should be developed but sympathetically. Today is the deadline for objections

For once I agree with you :) It will also spoil the look of the conservation area and its character is well worth preserving. My property is a new build within the conservation area and it was designed by the developer to be completely sympathetic to the area but only after local people and the residents association objected to the original plans which I'm really glad they did because we now have a lovely quite unusual home that doesnt look out of place.

So, Peter, what IS huge or overdeveloped to your mind?  Seems you don't ever seem to think any of the developments proposed are ever objectionable.  You might just save yourself the time typing and us reading your posts and just write "disagree" every time someone has an opinion on a development. Finding a development objectionable isn't always about the height anyway.

It's on the same spot where the developer chopped down a 300 year old protected  oak tree - already much discussed on this forum. With its plan for 'roof gardens' and massive light wells  this block will effectively be 4 storeys while the neighbouring  properties in Mill Hill Park conservation area are 2 storeys.  Please send in your objections so we can try to stop this out-of-place, overdevelopment - the deadline is Tuesday.

The oak tree issue aside, I really don't think describing a 3 storey block of 9 flats as "huge and imposing" is proportionate compared with other developments going on in Acton. It's no higher than most of the properties around it.  And it won't "affect everyone" either. It will affect a tiny number of neighbouring properties during construction, but that's about it.How are the next generation ever going to be able to buy property in London unless supply is more in balance with demand?
