Re: Drain company

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a local/reasonably priced company that could do a good job on the constantly blocking drains at the back of our house, i.e. not Dynarod or someone hugely expensive!!!?? Thanks.

Hi, try Drain365 on 0800 530 0365 (http://www.drain365.co.uk/).  They can clear anything.  Worth checking their website as they always have a daily offer.

Agree, always worth trying Thames water to start.  They were previously not interested but more recently they have been involved in flats.  Otherwise Dynorod rod is ok, little expensive but the main thing is that the work is guaranteed, if it re blocks soon after it means the drain wasn't cleared properly and they come back, many others dont

It might be worth contacting Thames Water, if it is not their problem they may be able to help by supplying leaflets and threatening letters. It did help here.

It's a converted house into two flats, the upstair's flat pipes all flow down into ours so we're getting all their gunk too. In the past we have done it ourselves with drain rods but now it's getting out of hand!! The guy who converted it into flats was a right cowboy too :s Doubt Thames Water would be responsible?

Why are they getting blocked? Broken or damaged pipes? Wrong items flushed down the loo? If they are pipes shared by several premises (not one divided into rooms or flats) then Thames Water may now be responsible regardless of age of building. Have you thought of getting your own drain rods?I have an end-of-terrace semi with all 8 houses feeding into the sewer via my garden, and blockages have been caused by various items getting into the final U-bend, including a half-full brandy bottle which needed the contractor to put his arm into the pipe about 9 feet down at the bottom of the inspection chamber manhole.
