Should Britain leave the EU?

Is it time to put the Great back in to Britain, by leaving the EU, closing our boarders, stop Frau Merkel and Brussels dictating to us?Should migrants be refused benefits for a number of years if they are are not contributing to the economy of our country?Should only migrants with skills and guaranteed employment be the only persons allowed to enter this country?Should we pay millions of pounds to a corrupt organization which has caused free movement without boarders, with no powers to control migration?Why do people want to come to Britain?

Interesting that Nissan is just investing another £100,000,000 in its Sunderland plant when they know that we might vote to leave. Suggests that it doesn't bother them.

I was asked to vote on whether we should join the "Common Market". Since then many decisions have been made by bean counters who know the price of everything but the value of nothing. I worked through several surveys where I was asked to write what I was doing every 15 minutes in a box that barely had space for one item, so decisions were made based on what someone who did not have a clue tried to make of the answers. No wonder we lost our R&D and manufacturing capabilities. Since then UK education has fallen behind the rest of the world, many skills have been lost and forgotten, and it might take some time to catch up. If we leave the EU now we may not survive.

The first thing which will happen when Britain leaves will be that large corporations such as Toyota, Honda and BMW will close all production plants here in the UK and move to Germany.Immediately you've killed off thousands of jobs and an industry worth hundreds of millions of pounds to this country.This country functioned before the EU because we made stuff the world wanted, and they had to buy it from us, because we lorded it over them.We no longer have Empire, and we no longer make very many things.

I'm a migrant from a non-EU country.If all migrants at my workplace were asked not to come in tomorrow, there would be some might big holes to fill.The ability for EU citizens to move freely has encouraged economic growth and cooperation between member states.And let's not forget that many British students study for free in EU countries, namely Germany. It's a two-way street.How is the EU corrupt? You mean like FIFA?

The EU is an imperfect instrument, like anything run by human beings. It has, however (with some exceptions in the 1990s) stopped us from slaughtering one another in the same way we had been for centuries before its existence. The EU ensures human rights and standards for us all.It costs a lot, absolutely. But we're not an Empire anymore. Once we cut ourselves off from the EU, there's no going back.

It is not a one-way street, and large numbers of UK ex-pats might be forced to return to the UK.
