Tube stations to lose ticket windows

Applications are in to remove the ticket windows at tube stations.For exampleActon Town: London Underground is closing all of its ticket office. The ticket office at Acton Town is to be closed, its windows to be removed, blocked and tiled to match surrounding finishes.There is a similar one for West Acton.

Acton Town is one of the few remaining. Most others on my commute have already been converted.

I can't remember when I last used a ticket office, but what worries me about these proposals is the removal of staff from stations. It may not be linked, but feels inevitable. There are implications for security, and the lack of assistance for anything should it be needed. Staff don't need to be behind a window, but they do need to be there...

Think they were meant to be closing it sometime this month. Shame as is really handy especially when my Oyster card stopped working and they sorted it out for me.
