Ealing council are the PITS.

Care for the elderly, disabled and housebound seems to escape the council.A case has arisen where a elderly person receiving care, was unable to provide information about a benefit. Now they are being asked to pay £119:70pw instead of £59:60pw as punishment, backdated to August, amount due £1316:70 (approx)Needless to say, the care has ceased with immediate effect, causing distress and will probably lead to premature death as choices now have to be made, such as heat or eat along with paying bills.SHAME ON EALING COUNCIL

Social Services have now said about £20pw contribution. The word about is worrying, it's worse than approx.The person concerned ask SS not to contact them again and hung up the phone.I wonder if Social Services are worried in case something untoward happens, and they get the blame.The council claim the letter for £119.70 was sent in error. Sounds more like they need the money for wheelie bins.

That is shocking Ewan. Have you discussed this with the Council? And with our MP Rupa Huq? Surely they have flexibility in cases of immediate hardship?
