Shoebox for Charity

Hi.We are getting shoe boxes together for children and have a wonderful sponsor wanting to donate 3 boxes of their chocolate and nut bars too but the only problem is that we don't know of any charities that do this in West London. Does anyone here have a contact or know of any charities that take shoe boxes to foreign countries for Christmas?

Thanks Olga but I am just taking food parcels.The people organising clothes distribution are very specific - although they do want MALE hats, scarves and gloves.At the moment they are trying to sort the stuff they have I think. But there are quite frequent runs/convoys from London - so maybe your things would be good for a November one. If you do Facebook, there are a couple of helpful groups: Calais people 2 people is the big one, then there's one for London. Plus Sarah Gayton - who posts in ChiswickW4 and gets loads of abuse for doing so - is active in the West London area co-ordinating stuff.

Sara, what sort of things would you be looking for for your run? At work we have a box of long-unclaimed lost property which would be great for winter, hats, scarves, warm clothes etc.  Also I think there are some fleecy blankets.  Happy to run them through the washing machine and pack them up if you think they might be wanted.

They just have to be CLEARLY labelled. If my nut-allergic daughter is anything to go by, that's the critical thing.

I'm doing a run to The Jungle with food parcels on October 28th.Not specifically for children though, so may not be of interest.But I do know chocolate is a welcome addition to the parcels.

Tanya,There is a charity called Samaritan's purse who run an initiative called 'Operation Christmas Child'. Their website address is:-https://www.samaritans-purse.org.uk/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/This gives information and a contact address/phone number.Some local churches collect the shoe boxes that have been filled - Acton Hill Methodist Church does.
