How long to repair Acton High Street Sewer?

Well, we are just approaching the "5 days" in the Thames Water's approximate timescale. After 3 or more days or doing little, they have dug a big hole in the street and added pumps. So, no chance of filling it in & restoring the road within the 5+ days.The announcement talked about 24 hour working and as quick as possible. I have yet to see any activity at this site in the evenings so I would like to see the TW definition of "24 hour working" - it must be the generator and lights!Given this is a major route and junction, should Ealing not be micro-managing TW rather than just leaving it to them to take as long as they want? While traffic this week has been quiet, one can only guess at the level of the jams next week with schools returning.

It has been an absolute nightmare for so many of us. I HAD TO DRIVE ROUND IN A CIRCLE TO GET TO MORRISONS FROM THE  TWYFORD AVENUE AREA but having heard the reasons for the longer than expected amount of time being taken ie a gas leak and broken water mains being discovered . I NOW FEEL .it is better to be SAFE than SORRY. JUST GRATEFUL NOW THAT THE WORKFORCE WERE SO WATCHFUL.

The signs say approx 13/11 finish...but Laurence wandered out of North China this evening to inspect and says he thinks it's nearly ready - just a bit of tarmacing to go apparently.

Minor problems affecting the A4020 Uxbridge Road in Ealing and Shepherds Bush are listed on the BBC Travel website, but not a total closure in Acton. Can someone please confirm that the road is still blocked, and if so inform the BBC. Thanks

Josh it's a ......joke all the traffic down the back streets, parent's with children on their way to school breathing in all those diesel fumes, The Council have to take some responsibility here, Acton is Chocking to death! Ban the Diesel Van .

TW are now giving an expected end date of approximately 13th November. This is on the dot-matrix signs around the site and will be distributed by letter to residents (no, I'm not sure how far from the site this will extend!). I'm expecting an update early next week and will post here with news.

And, interestingly, Bob Crossley tells me that Horn Lane is quieter too. Have to wonder where the traffic along there usually comes from? Noel Rd and Twyford are certainly worse, although Noel Rd is not as bad as I feared.

There are big problems in Bollo Bridge Road where the E3 is diverted. Thanks to all the building works going on there, it is a permanent obstacle course.

I'm afraid another update has come in - there has been an issue with the previously completed excavation works which will mean work runs over past 9th November. Update below as sent to councillors this morning:In order to carry out the required repairs it was necessary for Thames to excavate a 5mtr deep hole. This had been completed but issues were experienced when a void was discovered and this in turn caused a lot of ground to shift towards the shaft making the shaft unstable and consequently unsafe to work in. We are in constant communication with Thames but due to the nature of the works now required, Thames are reluctant to give a revised end date and have advised that works will run past Monday the 9th November. Once the excavation is completed it will be possible to give a more accurate completion date.

Noel Road in West Acton is a complete farce. What once used to be a quiet road is now filled with noisy double decker buses and taxi drivers... oh and let's not forget the mums driving on the wrong side of the road to arrive faster at the school gates (I handed in dash cam footage to the police).I've lived in West Acton for the past 11 years and never seen the traffic so bad, 2mph traffic from the start of Tywford Avenue to the end of Noel Road, 1.5 hours to get home instead of 5 mins.This morning I had to take a shortcut from Queens Drive to the A40 and then back to North Acton playing fields.

I'm hoping it's fast. The traffic jams being caused on Mill Hill Road by people seeking a short cut to the High Street have been nothing short of phenomenal, with constant tooting after 5pm, shouting, fist-waving and even a minor accident!

From our lovely council housing high risk single tenants on quiet residential roads.  I see two drug dealers on daily basis doing the rounds getting in an out of cars all day and walking street to street.

I have noticed that this year Acton has become a bit more edgier. Have lived here for 20 years and never noticed it before. We do seem to have an influx of undesirables recently. Not sure where the have come from.

Right outside the Police Station!I was subjected to an extremely aggressive verbal assault in Morrisons a couple of days ago, effectively for no reason. There are some very unpleasant characters in Acton - what can be done to send a message to them - in the strongest possible terms - that this behaviour is unacceptable?

More ...The @thameswater sewer repair to take longer than expected. Here is the email sent to Acton Cllrs tonight:Dear Councillors,Please be advised;It was envisaged that these works would be completed prior to the schools returning next week however due to engineering issues during the works Thames have advised that an additional 10 days may be required before this road can be re-opened.There are numbers of reason for the delay to the works; Thames water operatives were subject to an attack whilst carrying out night works, no one was injured but one of Thames Waters vehicles was damaged by a flying brick. This has resulted in Thames pulling their night works to ensure the safety of their operatives.On top of this both a leaking water and gas main were exposed which resulted in other utilities/contractors being called in to deal with the leaking mains. I have also been advised that additional blockages have been found in the sewer which will result in extra excavations in order to restore the sewer to its fully functional state.London buses have been advised of the delay to the works and this will mean bus diversions having to stay in place longer than anticipated.We are working closely with Thames to ensure the works are completed as soon as possible and disruption minimised and I will be discussing this with them further tomorrow.Once I have a clearer picture of the works still required and the disruption this will cause, I shall update you further.
