Bicycle storage near Acton central station/Churchfield Rd

Dear Acton residents,Judging by the high volume bikes that are stored outside properties and flats near Acton central station/Churchfield Rd, I would assume that there are many people in a similar position as myself that do not have a suitable place to store their bike(s) away from thieves and poor weather. An e-petition has started in an attempt to get Ealing council to address this. I've heard that if this achieves around 25 signatures then it should be brought before cllr's for discussion. We have had one of these installed in Southfield ward. I think you will find that the money is not coming from Ealing directly but via TfL funds. I gather that that particular budget is now used up for 2015/16. A possible solution would be to seek funds from your ward forum via your ward councillors?Any petition can be handed into the Council-the next opportunity to present at Full Council is 8th December. The bike lobby had better get moving  before the planning application is approved.  Ealing Council is facing massive cuts in services and it is most unlikely they will allocate money to bike racks.

An idea.No doubt the proposed new school which is to be sited in Acton Park will have bike storage....all part of their green policy statement.Could they not be persuaded ...as part of their planning application approval be asked..to provide extra covered parking on their site near to the station?  For use of those using the Station.Have Network Rail been approached?

I've been in twitter conversation with Bassam Mahfouz- the council executive member for transport - recently - when he tweeted saying he was getting better bike spaces in Northfields.I said Acton Central was chokka and he replied saying he would do what he could and maybe bike racks actually on the platform was the answer.So sign petition and maybe tweet him as well?
