Planning application for 64 Julian Avenue

A developer has bought 64 Julian Avenue and has submitted a number of planning applications, some of which could set a precedent for large extensions which would change the character of these houses and the area. Please comment on the applications so they know people care. You can find the plans on the Ealing Planning Deaprtment site. Search  by address.

Anne you probably know this already but just in case.......Neither Anne Brown or I can object to a planning application for Julian Avenue. We don't live near enough. It's a bit of an effort but you and friends could try talking to your neighbours including people living at the top of the Shalimars and the roads BEHIND the proposed development. Especially try to contact people who might not look at this forum or the other local social media. I don't think any one will tell you that Planning Committee pay much attention to objections just now but you have to try. The objections have to focus on Planning law. One objection per household. If you begin with the two objections suggested, it is possible the Planning Officer advising the Dveloper may advise him to delay or withdraw his application. Happy to help.

Thanks for the advice. Rather confusing though as Ealing's policy says specifically that loss of light is relevant.

Any loss of light to the neighbouring homes is not relevant to the planning application and would have to be dealt with as a civil claim (I am a lawyer and have acted on rights of light infringement cases). Loss of light to a garden is not really an issue - it is the loss inside the neighbouring property that counts. Therefore, if you are going to be affected, you should notify the building owner that you believe their plans will constitute an infringement of your right of light and contact a rights of light surveyor.  The building owner should agree to pay for the survey

A very important point Maire. We would be most grateful if you would take the time to make this comment in response to each of the six planning applications. You can find the applications by searching using the address and then post anonymously, I believe. The point about waste is relevant to all six plans.

I'm sure it isn't much consolation but I lived next door to a student house for years and we only once had trouble. Mind you they were music students at Arts Ed in Chiswick who were paying their own fees and working their socks off. They used to invite me to their parties which was flattering but they all sang so beautifully the party noise was fun. Just one thought. It is without doubt that as many students as possible will be crammed in to the building. Have a look at the plans and see where there is storage for recycling and waste? Much of the rubbish dumped on Acton streets seems to come from rented accommodation where there is no room. We are hoping the Council will take action before fortnightly collections come in next year. I can look at the plans if you like.

I think this is the answer. The applicant is CEO of a student housing company:... 'formed to provide students with high quality accommodation and investors with attractive and stable yields. We find, buy, refurbish, let and manage properties on behalf of investors delivering strong, stable returns.'

Three double bedrooms on the second floor and 2 dining rooms on the ground floor made me wonder about how the property would be used.

Very cheeky indeed! Alex is preparing a summary of each plan with comments and is happy to share it if you're interested. Several Julian Avenue people have expressed concern. It's also worth noting that none of the plans show a kitchen upstairs, yet many of the plans look like a development of two (or three?) flats. We are not sure if this is supposed to be made clear in a planning application but it certainly isn't in this case. The 'shed' - or rather, the large breeze block bungalow! - would have to be demolished anyway if they ever hope to sell.

Just started looking at these plans. The different versions are confusing. Cheeky comment in planning statement that the neighbour would gain light in the garden from the demolition of the shed which would compensate for losing light when the extension built!
