Station House Pub

What's happening to the Station House, Churchfield Road? Tried to go there for supper last night but we were met with rubble and workmen. No info on their website and not answering the phone. Is it a refurb, new owners or both? When might they be reopening? Anyone know? I particularly liked their seafood spaghetti dish.And whilst we're on the subject of Acton nosh, had really brilliant eggs benedict at relatively newly spruced Churchfield Cafe for a most reasonable price the other day. Well done Acton gastro treats!

The refurb is a disaster. The gents loos have been squeezed into the tiniest space possible. The two urinals are so close together that you basically have to both stand sideways peeing towards each other! There is so little space that the handtowels have been moved to the back wall of the toilet cubicle. If someone is taking a dump then there's no way to dry your hands unless you ask them to pass a paper towel under their closed door.This is just another example of trying to squeeze a few tables in to make an extra buck.

Went there for lunch today and it was yum. The refurb has entailed the bar being switched to the side of the room, the loos changed etc. The menu is currently the same but apparently they may change it soon. Another Actonite who PMd me and went in the evening last week said that it was packed, understaffed, but overall good. I like Station House. Nice attitude and tasty food.

Whilst on Chruchfield Road today, popped into the Station House to enquire viz the refurb status opening quo. Person said that they will be opening tonight (Sat) around 8.00pmish. I suggest that one phones prior to making dinner plans however, builders being builders and all :). Good luck Station House!

Drove past late last night - looked like there had been a flood in the pub or its garden or both. Could hold things up a bit.

They are closed for two weeks for refurbishment. There were loads of notices in the pub last week and they were mentioning it to customers. They are taking bookings for Xmas so assume it will be open well before then.
