Where does Rupa Huq stand on air strikes in Syria?

I've sent a tweet and an email asking our MP Rupa Huq where she stands on the issue of air strikes on Syria and received no response.Does anyone know her stance?

While I have seen a few online posts in favour of air-stikes, I have yet to actually have a conversation with anyone who says they would have voted aye. It's very odd.

Which is why I think we need to elect a 'community council' with non-party political councillors drawn from amongst concerned local residents. This might seem like a big deal, but as stated the other options are not looking good. Public meeting to come next year - watch this space

Are you suggesting that it would be better for your MP to have to toe a party line?I think there was probably a better debate because Labour MPs had a free vote.Surely it is a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation?!

On her FB page Dr Huq says she is voting against air strikes.  Also, I don't think she is a "Corbynista" - didn't she nominate him for the Labour leadership election (I think she said something on the lines of opening up the debate ) but vote for another candidate?

On her twitter page she keeps retweeting other peoples tweets. She won't say anything herself. But apparently she's said these vague and nonsensical statements: "I'm not minded to vote for air strikes in Syria at the moment""I think this is a very, very difficult decision and there is no right answer."

Certainly, particularly at local/Ealing level, the Labour Party, save for a very few individuals, are beyond appalling.And The Useless Tories couldn't land a paper plane on an aircraft carrier, let alone a punch, on the ducking & diving Cllr Bell.Which leaves The Lib-Dems, who really are best left.

Maire- Rupa must think we are imbeciles with that response!Do you seriously think Rupa would still have nothing to say if it was a Conservative Council Leader (with several "full time" jobs - all paid for by the public) warning against a housing crisis whilst living in social housing and renting out a private dwelling  - reportedly on an HMO basis for an estimated £2-3K a month?Rupa's response is an example of everything that's wrong with the current Labour party and many of it's MPs - they are mealy mouthed throwbacks to the 1970's and for all of their faux concern for ethics and integrity are unable to see or call out complete hypocrisy even when it's in their own back yard.

I'd still like to know if anyone asked Councillor Bell at the last CCA Meeting if he was giving up his Housing Association dwelling for one of the Refugee families he feels so concerned for?What a hypocrite.

But, of course, Ms Huq will remain mute on Two Houses Bell. Like all the Labour Party, because they are all fully aware he's well out of order.Extremely embarrassing and very inconvenient when it goes 100% against the ideology you preach to everyone else - Animal Farm anyone? This festering sore will continue suppurating until it is surgically attended to, but that won't be by our pathetic local "Opposition".However, I digress, back to Rupa Huq, "What's Rupa Huq ever done for us?"...................

If Bell owns the houses fine, but if any of them are in public ownership r he acquired any of them via right to buy then I think it is our business as someone who owns property is on dodgy ground,ethically certainly and very possibly legally. I'm not surprised he would take the defend the indefensible by taking the 'none of your business' line. If she has any mettle she will insist on knowing the nature of his tenancies.

Rupa has invited me and some others to a meting with her and Steve Pound quite soon. By then she will have had to commit to supporting Hilary Benn and colleagues or Jeremy Corbyn and the Stop the war coalition. I do not envy her  decision. I am putting a short list of topics to introduce at the meeting so if you have any burning issues.........On the topic of Julian Bell's two houses  (three apparently) I did ask her for a commment before her election as she is a long standing family friend.  She said (as does Julian) that his houses are his own private business and none of hers. She only has one house herself.

An ITV poll yesterday had 89% of respondents against air-strikes. Wholly unscientific Of course but everyone I have spoken to is much more sceptical than any of the politicians.What will it achieve? What's the endgame? Where's Exit strategy? How can it work without killing civilians and creating myriad more refugees? Seem to be the issues raised (Plus shades of Blair and Iraq and bemusement about the last vote)

Do we know where she stands on the ethics of Julian Bell renting out his £1m house whilst himself living in social housing AND talking about the "Housing Crisis"? She seems to have remarkably little to say on this matter, or the many other examples of "interesting" dealings at our local council.Apart from voting for Jeremy Corbyn and getting her photo taken planting trees etc. what has our new MP actually achieved in the last 6 months?
