Dennis, you clearly have a problem with cyclists and socialists - not that the two necessarily have anything in common; may I remind you that our conservative Mayor is an avid cyclist and responsible for the introduction of all the Boris bikes (Santander hire bikes) all over London?Perhaps there are more 'left wing' people using bikes because we truly care about the environment, but most of us are not suicidal - we want to live long enough to vote out the present government at the next election at the very least ;) - hence we wear high visibility clothing and do have lights that cost way more than 2 quid to stay safe.Of course, there is the odd idiot cyling in the morning or evening without lights, but I cannot see why you should get worked up about them - they only put themselves in harm's way. On the other hand, if you find that you are being pulled over disproportionally often, perhaps it has something to do with your driving - in the 30 years that I drove a car, I only got stopped once in a routine operation and did not get any points/fines ever.Some food for thought...
