Has Gregg's closed down

Just noticed the Gregg's was empty and closed this morning. Has it shut down for good. Liked their bread pudding and sausage rolls.

No idea...but a whole lot of nothing seems to be happening on the Malik site so maybe they rethought.Shame as it's a great location with huge footfall.

There's a perfectly good opticians on  Churchfield Road (technically Market Place) that I've used for years. Why have another. Or is it the wrong end of the street?

And sole and heel shoe repairs from the Oaks will join churchfield at the end of Janaury

There's a high end charity shop that some people have found designery clothes in plus the village trading store which is great for cards and gifts. Plus a good DIY shop. And the newly revamped bathroom shop which now looks quite posh. Plus dry-cleaner and post&packing place. So Churchfield Road not merely food/drink and estate agents - though they are rather noticeable.Anyone have a progress report on Angela Malik? Such a prime site, you would think it would be snapped up. An opticians was mentioned but nothing has happened.

If you are near Churchfield Rd. and fancy a drink or need to buy meat,then it is very handy.  It would just be nice if the High Street had a bit more to offer.

There was a Netto once in The Oaks and it's always completely baffled me why Aldi or Lidl don't open in Acton because the demographic is beyond perfect for them.An Aldi or Lidl in Acton would absolutely fly.(I vaguely recall Netto closed down UK operations or some such?)

Yes Im sure the same would've been said of Costa, after all the coffee shop opposite wasn't exactly flying.. And yet Costa is packed.Its a baffling logic that says, such and such didn't work, therefore an upmarket and hugely successful brand wont work either. I don't think there's even a chance Waitrose wont reinvigorate a very poor high street. As for Churchfield road, I know, because I am one, it does attract people as a destination point. A butcher, a wine shop, a wine bar/a couple of pubs/coffee shops is all I need most days. What were you after? A John Lewis?

And I'm told that Hakkekat is good, if you like paying through the nose for your fruit & veg.Shame about Gregg's though, it seemed to serve a purpose, albeit an unappreciated one.

Thank God for the Arabic shops.But, surely, there's more to retail than Waitrose and food.I miss Pound Stretchers.  Lots of useful things there.There's nothing here now.  It's worse than the old days.

Agree we have sacrificed all our shops for a Waitrose. Who in their right mind now wants to come and shop in Acton. It's such a shame for those shops still here.

I presume this is the effect of closing all the main shops in Acton while they erect a much disputed building.Nobody shops in Acton now except those of us who live here.There is no footfall.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with us here at Greggs.I've looked into your query further for you. I can confirm that we've closed our Acton High Street Shop. Unfortunately it wasn't doing as well as we'd hoped.
