This has become a joke. It took 10 days for any action to be taken on a burst pipe during the cold snap 2 weeks ago. Then action was taken and the road was closed for car traffic at the level crossing. This is causing chaos as it is badly notified to drivers who find themselves making U turns in front of the cones or simply getting out of the car to move the cones and get through anyway. Yesterday drivers simply got on to the pavement to cross the level crossing and used their horn to get pedestrians out of the way (I was walking on the pavement at the time). Alfred road, the only road down to the Uxbridge road is experiencing bumper to bumper traffic as cars try to escape Churchfield road and join traffic on the Uxbridge road which is denser than usual due to the ,in effect, closure of Churchfield road. I really cannot see why the level crossing is closed, the works are in the parking bay area and should not affect the traffic. There is also the added frustration of rarely seeing any work being done.
