Rising number of homeless sleeping in bins

I am starting anew thread on this because I think it deserves one.We should all be aware that this very dangerous practice is on the increase and you can see why in this cold and miserable weather.There was a very good item on this on the Victoria Derbyshire programme.  In the past families were much closer and less spread around the globe and helped each other out.  We lived in closer communities and we knew our neighbours.http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03l5l22

https://www.gov.uk/council-housing/apply-for-a-council-homeand then there is the council website.  I suppose so long as you have a car or a sofa to surf on then you are not considered to be one of the most needy.

Dee , the points system does not exist! My nephew works , pays tax , sleeps in his van for past 4 years yet immigrants arrive and get housed in front of him !!!!

Dee , I would love to know why Ealing prioritise Immigrants for PERMANENT social housing in front of London born residents . I will forward you the details which shows more Nigerians ( why ???) were housed than British ! Even Chinese people were housed in front of Londoners of all colours !!!! Why is this happening ?????

Phillipa/Sara... some people choose to be homeless.  They do not want to participate in our society - and sometimes I cannot but agree with them.  Go out there ladies and ask them yourselves.  This would be a worthy thing to do as the Homeless Unit of Ealing Council are presently overwhelmed.

Dennis why are the newly arrived immigrants given priority?  Is this specifically an Ealing Council policy decision?

My young nephew and niece are homeless. This is a direct result of the massive influx of immigrants who have arrived in Acton /Ealing and taken all the social housing . I have obtained figures from Ealing council which shows only 29 per cent of social housing was given to British people of all colours ! Homelessness for our young people is a direct result of mass immigration !!!!

Our local community police told me that they Have made a couple of attempts recently - with homelessness outreach professionals - to get out local street sleepers taken into hostels and the like. But some are quite resistant to that, I'm not sure why.
